Available for purchaseSomewhere, in an alternate universe, Earth anno 1999 has stagnated its technnological advances and is stuck in some kind of medieval state. As a result, a new country has taken form, ruled by the evil Scion who has sent out powerful monsters to take over the World. Thankfully, there are some heroes left to answer the call and help prevent incoming calamity.
The game features a single player adventure mode where you select one of four playable characters and face off eight bosses. There's Leo, a half-lion, half man creature that uses this curse as his strength, Kenji, an elite ninja, Tessa, a sorcerer or battle-mage of sorts and lastly Mai-Ling a martial artist that joins the fight after she finds her hometown in ruins.
Each character have their own quest line and cutscenes, and after each successful battle the character gain various upgrades like elemental resistances and new weapons or combos. The game also features items to pickup during battle, like health, coins and experience points to further character growth. The game also has finishing moves which are quite graphic, with include moves like slicing a character in half, organ removal, decapitation and more. Red Earth was the first of only six games developed for the CPS III system, and the only one that hasn't been available on other platforms until very recently, when it became part of the Capcom Fighting Collection in 2022.
