Meet Justin, who lives in Parm and aspires to become a legendary explorer just like his father. Determined to investigate some nearby ruins to find the Spirit stone, he soon discovers there's more to this tale than first meets the eye. After meeting the ancient Liete of Alent in said ruins, she tells him about the Angelou civilization, only believed to exist in myths and that they must travel east to search for the true power of the Spirit stone he's carrying.

Thankfully Justin isn't without help. As you travel you'll meet new companions that'll join your party, each with their unique skills and abilities. Backed by both voice acting and cutscenes, Grandia sets a grand tone of exploration and adventuring. The game features a unique and strategic approach to battles, with a time line at the bottom showing when enemies and allies will get their turn. By timing and exploiting this feature, players can interrupt aand even cancel enemy actions, stalling them further forcing players to think strategically.
